William Harvey is founder and director of the non-profit Cultures in Harmony, an NGO that promotes cultural understanding through music. In 2010, CiH was named a Best Practice in International Cultural Engagement (along with the Kennedy Center & Library of Congress) by the US Center for Citizen Diplomacy. With degrees from the Juilliard School and Indiana University, Harvey has taught violin and conducted the orchestra at the Afghanistan National Institute of Music. He has served as concertmaster for the Spokane Symphony and the Orquesta Sinfónica de la UNSJ (Argentina); he has conducted the Afghan Youth Orchestra in sold-out concerts at the Kennedy Center & Carnegie Hall. Harvey’s compositions have received over a hundred performances worldwide. He plays a 2001 Curtin violin.
