The late Ruggiero Ricci (1918 – 2012), one of the great violinists of the twentieth century, studied with Louis Persinger in San Francisco, where he made a sensational debut at the age of ten. Ricci has since performed over 5,000 concerts in 65 countries, and has a discography encompassing the widest repertoire of any violinist. His fourth recording of the Paganini Caprices was the first ever made on Paganini’s own Guarneri, the “Cannone.” Ricci commissioned three violins from Curtin & Alf, including a replica of his 1734 Guarneri del Gesu, the “Ex-Huberman.”
