Leslie Johnson has performed as Principal Violist/Solo Violist of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra in Seattle, and as a guest artist on many Northwest chamber music series, including the Olympic Music Festival, Chamber Music San Juans, and the Second City Chamber Music Series. Formerly an Assistant Professor of Violin/Viola at Eastern Washington University and a member of the Spokane String Quartet, she currently teachers privately out of her own studio. Johnson holds a masters degree from the Juilliard School and a doctorate is from the University of Washington. Her doctoral dissertation on the Shostakovich Viola Sonata was published by Barenreiter, and is often cited in scholarly research. Her recording of the complete unaccompanied Suites for Viola by JS Bach was released for download and on CD in 2013.
