Ewald Cheung is a violin soloist and chamber musician who has performed concertos with numerous orchestras around Canada. He has also performed widely as a recitalist with pianist Philip Chiu, including a 34-concert tour with Jeunesses Musicales Canada in 2015. Cheung was recipient of the 2010 Golden Violin Award from McGill University (where he studied with Jonathan Crow), grand prizewinner of the 2009 Shean Strings Competition, finalist of the 2007 Montreal Symphony Competition, and winner of the Canadian Music Competition in 2001 and 2003. An avid chamber musician, Ewald was a founding member of the Roddick String Quartet. He plays a 2010 Joseph Curtin violin.
