Violinist Clare Semes has been a member of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra since 2017, having previously served as concertmaster for the New World Symphony, the Juilliard Orchestra, and the Verbier Festival Orchestra, with whom she continues to perform. Semes has appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, the Riverside Symphonia, the Spoleto Festival Chamber Orchestra, and the Newark Symphony Orchestra. Originally from the Philadelphia area, she received her Bachelor and Masters degrees from The Juilliard School, where she studied with Donald Weilerstein, Ronald Copes, and Laurie Smukler. Clare Semes plays a 2003 Joseph Curtin violin.
